I hope you’re enjoying the Summer Reading Program. I’ve certainly been enjoying reading all of your great reviews! My only problem is that I’m getting hungry. Who wouldn’t when reading about titles like Good Day for Salad, by Louise Fiszer, Twenty-Minute Chicken Dishes by Karen Levin, and Super Smoothies, by Mary Corpening Barber? My favorite review this week comes from reader Terri who reviewed Kid Food, by Rachael Ray. Terri writes:
I love Rachael Ray! However, this book didn’t really seem to fit my description of
“kid’s food.” There’s a lot of really yum-o sounding stuff but not that MY kid would eat!
Terri, I understand completely. I love reading cookbooks and imagining all of those great recipes I could make. Wouldn’t my friends and family be impressed by the bourbon-glazed prime rib, broccoli in butter sauce and cherries flambé? Never mind I can’t afford prime rib, or that no one I know likes broccoli, or that I would very likely set my kitchen on fire if I tried to flambé anything. It’s just fun to look, dream and drool.
So, my question of the week is: What’s the best (or worst) recipe you’ve ever tried from a book or magazine, and why? Post an answer and receive an extra log entry for the SRP prize drawing. That grand prize of a $150 gift card to Books-A-Million would buy a lot of cookbooks!
